Product Director of Alienware, Ryan Gu pointed out that the x16 is meant as an answer to those who can’t decide between a 15-inch and 17-inch gaming laptop. With an aspect ratio of 16:10, Malaysian customers can choose to have the laptop with either a 165Hz or 240Hz display panel for its 16-inch display which also has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 and support for Dolby Vision. [Image: Alienware]They also can have the 2.72kg laptop with a 1TB PCIe NVMe solid state drive as the storage option or go as high as two 1TB SSDs in RAID 0 mode. However, other hardware components within the laptop are not customisable for now though. At the moment, the Malaysian variant for the x16 comes with only one CPU, GPU, and RAM option which is the Intel Core i9-13900HK, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12GB, and 32GB LPDDR5-6000. It also comes standard with the CherryMX ultra low-profile mechanical keyboard with per-key RGB lighting alongside a 90Whr lithium-ion battery and Lunar Silver colourway. [Image: Alienware]Speaking about the RGB lights, the outline of the laptop’s rear area that houses its I/O ports and thermal vents (Alienware called this area as “stadium”) has been fitted with 100 micro-LEDs. Owners can customize the lighting array colours through the Alienware Command Centre with various effects including Rainbow Wave, Loop, and Scanner which have been crafted exclusively for the x16. Meanwhile, Ryan noted that the x16 features a more robust chassis as compared to last year’s x17 R2. The new model continues to feature an illuminated RGB touchpad just like x17 R2 but the version on the x16 is 15% larger than its 17-inch counterpart and he has also highlighted the x16’s six-speaker audio system which features two top-firing tweeters and dual woofer configuration alongside support for Dolby Atmos. [Image: Alienware]When it comes to pricing, the base model with a 165Hz display panel and 1TB storage is currently listed at RM14,999. On the other hand, a fully decked variant with a 240Hz panel and two 1TB SSD in RAID 0 mode is going for RM16,977.
