For those who missed it, the Tecno Phantom X was initially launched in Malaysia back in May of last year. The phone packs a 6.7-inch AMOLED curved display with 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, and a pill-shaped camera cutout. It also features an under-display fingerprint scanner, loudspeakers, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a USB-C 2.0 port. As for design, the phone has a vertical triple camera setup on the centre of its rear panel, which is available in two colour options: Van Gogh Sky Blue and Monet Summer Sunset. Under the hood of the device is a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset that is paired together with a Mali G76 MC4 GPU, as well as a single memory configuration of 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage. For a boost in performance, the Phantom X also comes with the built-in ability to expand up to an additional 3 GB of RAM by converting an equivalent amount of storage into virtual memory. Features-wise, it comes with Android 11 via HIOS 7.6, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, an FM radio function, but lacks NFC support. Besides that, the phone is equipped with a 4,700 mAh battery with 33 W wired fast charging, which Tecno claims is able to top-up 70% of its power in just 30 minutes. In terms of imaging, the triple camera setup on the back of the Tecno Phantom X consists of a 50 MP f/1.9 primary, a 13 MP f/2.4 50 mm telephoto with 2x optical zoom, and an 8 MP f/2.3 ultra-wide. Meanwhile, housed within the pill-shaped cutout on its display is a 48 MP f/2.2 primary front-facing camera, and an 8 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide shooter. As mentioned earlier, the Phantom X is now sold at RM 999, which is quite a significant reduction of its initial launch price of RM 1,499. Answering our query, Tecno Malaysia said the price change is only offered for a limited time, although a permanent change is still possible depending on the market.
