1. 15-inch MacBook Air

Earlier this year, Apple launched the 13.6-inch MacBook Air M2. This new iteration of the popular MacBook sports a new design and is powered by the latest M2 chipset. While the dust still settles around this new MacBook Air, it seems like Apple is set to release a 15-inch MacBook Air in Spring 2023. This is a first for MacBook Air, as it has never been released with a 15-inch screen. Moreover, this new MacBook Air will most likely include a healthy upgrade over the first M2 chip, with a faster clock speed. The chances of this MacBook Air release are quite significant, as it’s been reported that Apple wants to increase consumer choice in the laptop segment. However, nobody’s sure yet if this MacBook Air could replace the 13-inch MacBook Air. In any case, the price for this laptop could be really high, starting as steep as $1,799.

2. iPhone 15 Ultra

After the surprise release of the Apple Watch Ultra, talk is rife of Apple working on an Ultra model for the upcoming iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 15 Ultra was earlier tipped as a replacement for the Pro Max model. However, it looks like the new phone will replace the iPhone’s Plus series instead. Considering the heavy upgrades that the Apple Watch Ultra received compared to the other smartwatches in the Apple Watch Series 8 lineup, the iPhone 15 Ultra looks set to receive a similar upgrade level. Industry insider Mark Gurman reports that all iPhone 15 models will receive the Dynamic Island, and the Ultra model could sport a 6.7-inch screen. In terms of design, the iPhone 15 Ultra could also feature a titanium alloy body and change the port to a USB-C instead of the Lightning port. Apart from this, a periscope lens is rumored to be added to the overall ensemble. We can also expect significant upgrades in the overall camera department, although this is merely speculation at the time of writing. Apple could introduce a new A17 Bionic chipset for the processor in the Ultra model, while the other iPhone 15 models use an upgraded A16 chipset. Of course, it’s expected for the iPhone 15 Ultra to work with the upcoming iOS 17. Besides this, there’s very little confirmed information on the phone itself.

3. Apple Watch Series 9

Coming to the Apple Watch Series, the tech giant has released a new smartwatch lineup every year since 2015. This doesn’t seem likely to change in 2023, so we can expect the Apple Watch Series 9 this year without any reservations. However, we’re not entirely sure yet about the specifications of the new Apple Watch lineup. Of course, there’s a decent chance that Apple will bring in the S9 chipset to power these new smartwatches. It’s worth keeping in mind that there’s not much of a difference in the performance of the S7 and S8 chipsets. So, this could be the trend that’s incorporated into the Apple Watch Series 9. There are also rumors stating that the Series 9 could feature MicroLED panels, but this massive change could take longer than expected. If nothing else, these new panels could be introduced into the next Apple Watch Ultra. Apart from this, we don’t expect Apple to introduce sweeping changes to health-tracking monitors and sensors. Instead, they could improve the capabilities of the sensors. It’s almost needless to say that the Apple Watch Series 9 will also debut the new WatchOS 10. This will offer minute but worthwhile and interesting changes to the new Apple Watch lineup. We might have to wait until WWDC in June to know more about Apple’s upcoming products in 2023, including the Apple Watch Series 9!

4. AirPods Max 2

The first generation of the AirPods Max was released at the tail end of 2020. Since then, there’s been almost little to no information on a new iteration of the popular headphones. Could we see a new AirPods Max in 2023? The biggest reason for the speculation surrounding a new AirPods Max is the AirPods Pro 2. The latter has introduced excellent technology, such as Adaptive Transparency, IPX4 rating, and the U1 chipset. The AirPods Max 1 lacks all of these new features. At the moment, the only credible rumors surrounding the AirPods Max 2 talk about introducing USB-C to the new headphones and that it could come in two variations. The first variation would be cheaper, targeting a more sports-oriented audience. As for the second model, Apple could target its premium consumers. Since there’s almost no information on the next generation of AirPods Max, we’d have to take all these speculations with a grain of salt. If nothing else, you can expect the AirPods Max 2 to adopt all the features of the AirPods Pro 2, and possibly feature more advanced variations of the same technology.

5. Reality Pro headset

Apple could expand its wares into a new category with a mixed-reality headset called the Reality Pro headset. If this product arrives in 2023, it will cost anywhere between $2000 to $3000. There are good reasons for this exorbitant price as well. The Reality Pro headset is set to be the most advanced headset of its kind. Not only will the Reality Pro headset feature an M2 chip (the same that’s inside a Mac), but it will also feature over 10 cameras both inside and outside the headset. Furthermore, the high-resolution displays on the headset will be the best in its class. Just like any other Apple device, the headset will have its own operating system, dubbed realityOS. With this device, Apple could want to create a virtual world – similar to the Metaverse. Nonetheless, there’s not much else that we know about the device so far.

6. iMac with M3

Although the iMac didn’t last too long, thanks to the introduction of the Mac Studio, people are still hoping for a new iMac. There’s even some news from industry insiders that Apple is working on a new iMac with an M3 chipset. However, we’re not sure if this will be a follow-up for the 24-inch iMac or a new model altogether. In any discussion surrounding an iMac with M3, the conversation will naturally flow toward the M3 as well. However, Apple is currently busy cementing its position with the likes of the M2, M2 Pro, and even the M1 Ultra. If an M3 chip is being worked on, you can be sure that it will feature a 3nm architecture. Moreover, the M3 chip units might be made available in three variants – Ibiza, Palma, and Lobos. If we see an M3 chip, it will be introduced first with a line of MacBooks. Only then could it be added to a new iMac.

7. Apple Silicon Mac Pro

Considering the leaps and bounds that Apple has taken with its M-series of chipsets, the currently available Mac Pro looks quite dated. This is mostly because the Mac Pro still uses an Intel chipset. So, it’s guaranteed that we’ll see a new Mac Pro with an M2 or M3 chipset. However, the development of a lineup of desktops is far more complex than that of MacBooks. Expect a bit of delay in seeing a new Mac Pro. It’s also highly likely that despite the gap in releases, Apple won’t be changing the design of the Mac Pro. Instead, they’ll focus on perfecting the internals to deliver a powerful and fluid user experience. Since these desktops compete with Intel workstations, you could see a rumored M2 Ultra or M2 Extreme chipset in the new Mac Pro. Whatever the case, the new Mac Pro looks set to break all records in terms of specifications and pricing!

8. 14-inch iPad Pro

It hasn’t been too long since Apple released a new iPad Pro with an M2 chipset and ProRes video recording capabilities. However, these features are available in the proven 12.9-inch display. There are rumors abound that Apple is testing 14-inch iPad Pros in its facilities. The primary aim of this increase in display size is to blur the line between using a tablet and a laptop. Nonetheless, there are some issues with this idea. Firstly, Apple often changes its existing products to see if these minor changes would help the user experience. More often than not, they don’t materialize in a commercial sense. Secondly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is already quite expensive. A bigger screen could blow the budget so much that most people won’t be interested. Thirdly, smaller iPad variants are still quite successful. With all these factors to consider for Apple, a 14-inch iPad Pro may not see the light of day. At least, not at the earliest. If we see an iPad Pro with a bigger screen, expect the product to be at the ultra-premium end of the spectrum.

Products released so far in 2023

While there are plenty of upcoming Apple products in 2023 that we can look forward to, a few new Apple products have already been released. These range from the new MacBook Pro with the M2 processor to the 2nd generation HomePod. Let’s check out these new products in a bit more detail, shall we?

MacBook Pro 2023

Although both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M2 chips were released in mid-2022, Apple decided to release newer models with updated M2 chipsets. So, the new MacBook Pro models feature the latest M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, elevating their processing power to unimaginable levels. The company’s press release claims that these new MacBook Pro models offer over 6 times the performance of the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pros. That’s not all – for professional video and sound editing, along with graphics-intensive projects, the 96GB of unified memory should prove to be plenty. These new MacBook Pro models also support 8K video with up to 60Hz refresh rate and 4K with refresh rates up to 240Hz. Finally, Apple has also stated that this new version of the MacBook Pro will have the longest battery life ever seen in a MacBook. This comes as quite an engineering marvel, considering the raw processing power provided by the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. Overall, this is an excellent addition for professionals who want the ultimate laptop without compromising on portability and style!

HomePod (2nd Gen)

The HomePod’s Siri capabilities have also been enhanced. Apple states that you can integrate smart home automation with HomePod’s Siri, making some decent changes to the brilliant home experience. This also includes improvements in home security, such as detecting smoke alarms and checking the temperature/humidity hands-free. This new HomePod comes with Apple’s S7 chipset, 20mm drivers, five tweeters, and built-in bass-EQ mics. According to Apple, the chipset’s capabilities allow it to understand the room’s acoustics through room-sensing technology and advanced computational audio. This will ultimately lead to an excellent audio experience, regardless of the genre of music you’re into.

Mac Mini

Ever since Apple introduced the first Mac Mini in 2005, multiple iterations of the device have been in circulation. However, consumers were hankering for a new model with the latest Apple chipsets and innovations. The company listened, and now we have the latest Mac Mini with M2 and M2 Pro chipsets. This makes the new version of the Mac Mini the most powerful and advanced yet. The device’s design remains compact as ever, packing in the punch of the M2 chipset in the smallest design possible. You’ll also find multiple new additions, such as better connectivity, more unified memory, and support for two to three displays, based on the chipset. You’ll be able to combine this device with the Apple Magic accessories and Apple Studio Display to create the ultimate desktop experience. The device integration is further aided by the perfect compatibility offered through macOS Ventura. With all these innovations working in tandem, you’ll be able to achieve faster performance in whatever you do. Whether you’re using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, or playing games like Resident Evil Village, the new M2 Mac Mini provides exceptional boosts when compared to the Mac Mini with the M1 chipset! Final thoughts That wraps up our list of upcoming new Apple products in 2023. Remember that most of these products are based on rumors from industry insiders and haven’t been confirmed by Apple in an official statement. Nonetheless, this is an exciting bunch of products, and I think we consumers would love to see them materialize! Read more:
